Tshirt Mod 17

This shirt has an interesting - albeit strange - story behind it.

Back at OU where I used to work, I served as the Program Coordinator for a summer intensive English program offered to Japanese high schoolers. At the end of my fourth and final year of the program, I was going around cleaning the kids' dorm rooms (because apparently "Make sure your room is completely clean and unlocked when you turn in your key" means "Leave the place a total mess because the department's too disorganized to charge you for it.") and happened upon two t-shirts in the trash. Both were perfectly nice shirts, no holes or stains or anything.

Only both had farewell messages written on them, as though the girl were trying to tell them "thanks" and "goodbye" before pitching them in the trash in a country on the opposite side of the globe from her home.

Creeeeeeeepy. But intriguing. I took the shirts, brought them home, washed them. Let them sit around for over a year before doing anything with them.

This one is now one of my favorite shirts to wear to work. I put it with a skirt and a jacket in Fall/Spring, wear it as is with a skirt in the summer. The other is still in my to-be-mod'd box, but I'll get around to it eventually.

Sometimes, people ask me why my shirt has "thanks a lot <3" written on it in sharpie. I just smile and tell them, "This shirt is clearly glad to've gotten a second chance."

You should see the looks I get. They're hilarious!
