Description
I'm kind of entirely in love with this outfit.
I'd been planning to make the skirt for a handful of months now but had been avoiding it because satin's kind of a royal pain in the ass (and it was a total pain in my ass, god I cussed at thi
s skirt SO MUCH while making it). Only got around to making the skirt because of the jacket.
Mmm, dat jacket.
See, that's a Goodwill find. It was $8. It's a fully lined suit-jacket AND IT COST ME EIGHT DOLLARS. Well, plus a dollar for the button, which I added. Needed a black skirt to go with it, and where I own a black skirt already, that black skirt is a) from Target, b) made of cotton so it attracts cat hair and lint like crazy, and c) is a pencil skirt and therefore super uncomfy.
This, though! The skirt cost $12 in materials and ~3 hours of labor (would've been less if I'd not had to rip out a bunch of seams and re-sew them - one of which took FOUR TRIES to get right). The jacket was $8. The undershirt was a Christmas present from the Ma-in-law. So you're looking at $20 total for that outfit.
Cannot beat that, folks. CANNOT.
